Sports Massage
Deep tissue sports massage to release chronic muscle tension, accelerate recovery and restore full range of movement — delivered by Lisa Peterson with nearly 30 years of specialist experience.
What is Sports Massage?
Sports massage is a targeted, hands-on therapy that works on the deeper layers of muscle tissue to release tension, break down adhesions, and restore normal function. Despite the name, it is not exclusively for athletes — it is equally effective for anyone experiencing muscular tightness, postural discomfort, or the physical effects of a demanding lifestyle.
At L.P Therapy Clinic, every sports massage is carried out by Lisa Peterson — a fully qualified and insured therapist with specialist training in sports and remedial massage. Lisa takes a thorough assessment before each session to understand your specific concerns and tailor the treatment accordingly.
Sessions are available in 45, 60, 75, and 90-minute durations. A brief consultation is included with every first appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is sports massage painful?
Sports massage works on deeper muscle tissue, so some tenderness is normal — particularly in areas of significant tension. Lisa will always work within your comfort level and adjust pressure as needed. Any post-treatment soreness typically resolves within 24–48 hours.
How often should I have a sports massage?
This depends on your individual needs and goals. For general maintenance, many clients benefit from a session every 4–6 weeks. Those in active training or recovering from injury may benefit from more frequent treatment. Lisa will advise you at your consultation.
Do I need to be sporty to have a sports massage?
Not at all. Sports massage is suitable for anyone experiencing muscular tension, postural discomfort, or physical fatigue — regardless of whether you exercise regularly. The techniques are equally effective for desk workers, manual labourers, and those with sedentary lifestyles.
What should I wear?
You will be appropriately draped throughout the treatment. Lisa will advise you on what to wear or bring when you book. Comfortable, loose clothing is generally recommended for before and after your session.
Can I have a sports massage if I have a medical condition?
A full consultation is carried out before your first treatment to review your medical history. Some conditions may require GP clearance or may mean that certain techniques are modified. Please mention any health concerns when booking.
